Student Success

UNC Rural is part of the Division of Student Success which ensures that Carolina positions all students for unmatched academic and career outcomes. We do this by connecting the dots across the undergraduate, graduate, and professional student journey, creating a no-wrong-door experience while continuing our promise to provide the nation’s strongest return on public investment in higher education.

Celebrate NC Farmer's Appreciation Day

UNC Rural hosts an event in The Pit on the first Thursday in November to show appreciation and recognition for all North Carolina farmers and farm families. North Carolina has more than 46,000 farms, including Rameses’ home at the Hogan family’s Magnolia View Farm just 5 miles from campus. You can’t talk about North Carolina without talking about farmers and agriculture. And you can’t tell Carolina’s story without recognizing all the ways our students, faculty and staff are connected to rural North Carolina.

Students in Rural Club

UNC Rural supports students from rural areas or who are simply interested in learning more about rural communities and professional pathways. The Rural Student Club is aiming to launch in Fall 2026 and organize on-campus networking and learning opportunities, service-learning projects, connections to rural partners and professionals and more.

Internship Opportunities

"UNC Rural truly embodies the 'for all' in Carolina’s mission. Whether it is through stepping into rural communities and listening to individuals' first-hand experiences, or fostering collaborations within the university. Grounded in the belief that all North Carolinians deserve to be seen, heard, and uplifted, UNC Rural has taught me that meaningful systemic changes begins with genuinely listening. It has been an honor to contribute to that mission!"

- Bara'ah Khader, MSW Student and UNC Rural Intern
