Student Success

UNC Rural is part of the Division of Student Success which ensures that Carolina positions all students for unmatched academic and career outcomes. We do this by connecting the dots across the undergraduate, graduate, and professional student journey, creating a no-wrong-door experience while continuing our promise to provide the nation’s strongest return on public investment in higher education.

Celebrate NC Farmer's Appreciation Day

"As a student involved in several organizations at UNC that focus on rural communities and health initiatives, I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with UNC Rural. Their team does an excellent job of connecting students with meaningful opportunities, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that student voices are heard. I am grateful for their dedication to student engagement and for the role they play in advancing awareness, partnerships, and opportunities that strengthen rural communities across our state."

- Catherine McLamb '27, Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Internship Opportunities

"UNC Rural truly embodies the 'for all' in Carolina’s mission. Whether it is through stepping into rural communities and listening to individuals' first-hand experiences, or fostering collaborations within the university. Grounded in the belief that all North Carolinians deserve to be seen, heard, and uplifted, UNC Rural has taught me that meaningful systemic changes begins with genuinely listening. It has been an honor to contribute to that mission!"

- Bara'ah Khader, MSW Student and UNC Rural Intern

Student-Led Partnerships

"Our partnership with UNC Rural provides Education Symmetry Project with an opportunity to collaborate with those already dedicated to facilitating students’ success at North Carolina’s flagship public university, thereby helping students from every corner of the state access the same opportunities to the same extent as their peers from more privileged backgrounds. ESP believes that UNC Rural has built a priceless foundation for supporting rural North Carolinians via helping get them to UNC-Chapel Hill. Through ESP’s and UNC Rural’s partnership, we’re excited to further build upon that foundation by making sure that rural students are prepared to take advantage of all the academic, professional, and social opportunities available to them at UNC-Chapel Hill."

- Garrett I. Barnes, Political Science and Public Policy Major and Russian Culture Minor
